Day 2: Kilekenny and Such

Our hotel in Kilkenny.

We made kilkenny our base and the next day drove to Cashel and saw the Rock of Cashel, a ruined cathedral/monastery. That's Ireland's earliest complete round tower.

In the distance you can see the ruins of Hore Abbey.

From Cashel, we drove to Clonmel for the horseraces.

Here I am in the stands overlooking the crowd that is placing bets with the bookmakers.

Here is one line of bookmakers, the woman in white was often the first one to put up odds hoping to get the early bettors.

here are all the bettors.

And here are the horses. This race was a steeplechase so they had hurdles to jump. A couple riders fell (but no one was injured)

We won bets on all the races but lost more all together.
